The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
