Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice late to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty win.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
